Menstruation remains taboo in 2026. Uncover cycle facts
There are discussions that women and men rarely talk to each other about. The main one is the menstrual cycle experienced by females of our species. Growing up in my day we didn’t have sex ed classes. So, all we really knew was it was something that happened around once a month and involved bleeding. Occasionally some guy would say something about a woman being bitchy because it was her time of the month. Turns out it is mood swings, cramps, irritability and other factors contribute to this lack of male understanding.
I joked with my ex-wife
I freely admit I was part of that. I joked with my ex-wife that I would like to have her problem as one week or so a month she could just let loose or be a different person when Auntie Flo was around. Men have to be the same person all the time and it would be great to just be different for a while. She was not amused and perhaps that contributed to her becoming an ex. But we didn’t really talk about it except for assisting her when she had cramps.
It is still taboo
I remember just before becoming a teenager my mother asked me to get her some pads. I went to the store and looked around, checked my note telling what type and he size. I was embarrassed and red-faced bringing them to the cashier. She was nice and said what a great son I was to do this for my mother. I felt better but made sure nobody saw what was in the bag.
It is still taboo as far as the younger crowd is concerned. I spotted a young friend with some other girls and asked her if I could ask about menstruation and men. Immediately another girl said my question was inappropriate before I could add if she ever talked to them about it. Later on, I talked to an older married couple who said they didn’t at the start but now do. A gay guy said women talked to him about it because there was no sexual connection. Guess it’s how comfortable you feel.
One time a Jehovah Witness who stopped her daughter from attending or having birthday parties then had a menstruation party for her daughter when she had her first period. Maybe that is something that could catch on and be meaningful to girls instead of hiding it. I mean isn’t this like getting a subscription service that nobody signed up for but has no choice but to have. Just find a way to own it. Look at the Afro-Canadian/American who took the “N” word and call each other that diminishing the power it has over them.
But ladies there are times you need to say something. In a Val d’Or bar, a guy we knew left with a girl and came back later. He says guess what I did? We told him to go to the bathroom and look into the mirror. His beard was red. If you want oral sex when you’re “on the rag” there is a thing called the tongue condom.
Interested by sex
And oh yes, most women during their period are more interested in sex. For the woman there are benefits like relief from pains from cramps, endorphins help with that and may help with migraines. So, if she says sorry, I’m having my period it may be a sign she just doesn’t want you right now.
Tampon Tim
So why can a guy talk about this? Well, I read about the governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz. The Republicans nicknamed him Tampon Tim. He made a state law that required public schools to provide free menstrual products that included pads and tampons to students in 4th through 12th grades. As a former teacher he knew that girls would skip classes because they couldn’t afford them.
Walz’s ‘Tampon Tim’ nickname explained: Why Republican critics gave him the ‘savagely effective’ moniker

Republicans may have launched the #TamponTim chain to mock the Minnesota Governor, but the Left ultimately embraced it. Here’s why… more
Period poverty
Experts say period poverty is more than just a personal problem but that It’s an issue of public and personal health, dignity and more.
Canada has followed suit providing these products to northern communities as many girls can’t afford these products.
Some people think that referring to menstruation as the curse refers to the Bible and God punishing Eve after that Garden of Edan incident. No where is that said but some patriarchal bastards like to interpret the Bible or say they talk on behalf of the Creator. Such assholes should have to provide proof of that.
Taboo, a dirty little secret in 2026
The punishment
Back in my community in the past evangelists came into and put up a huge tent. There was music, preaching and such. At one point the collection bucket came around and they said no change, God and Jesus wants to see only bills. They are the people who see menstruation as unclean and a punishment.
Screw them It is just the body getting rid of stuff so the body can get ready for another opportunity to conceive. It’s just the biological reproductive process but we make it so messy and we shouldn’t. So, let’s all talk about it both male and female. Then the nicknames and jokes like-Did you know PMS is mentioned in the Bible? “…and Mary rode Joseph’s ass all the way to Bethlehem.” will be something that has less impact then today. It’s a taboo or unwelcome subject that shouldn’t be if equality between the sexes is what we all strive for.
