Don’t be a Sam the Whore

Nicknames can be something great, neutral or something to dread.

I know a guy who’s called Brother Jack. He isn’t part of any church but his kindness has gotten him a respected nickname.

Many other people probably don’t know his full name except Jack is probably part of it.

When your boss calls you something like “my number 1″ it means you are accepted into the inner circle and feel great. A friend of mine named Neil liked to be called Niles. While listening to ” An All That I Could’ve Been” I nicknamed him Nine Inch Niles. He would later thank me saying his nickname made him more interesting to the girls.

Like wise someone may be called Uncle Pete or Grandma Moses just because everyone else calls them that. Mostly a neutral nickname. In medival time to now John the Smith became John Smith. The same with a lot of other names. Look at the origens of your own name and get some free history without having to pay for it.

An example of a dread nickname is this one. A person I knew when he was 16 or so went into a bar that had hookers there. By the way Hookers is another nickname as General Joseph Hooker during the USA Civil war had a posse of soiled doves (another nickname) and people would ask about them and the reply was always, ” They’re Hookers.” Anyhow back to the young man who goes with a hooker upstairs. After a while he comes back down and is walking fast but not running for the door. Then comes a fair maiden partway down the stairs covering her nether regions with a towel and one breast with her hand yelling, “What about my money?” whereapon the you man runs out the door. Unfortunately he is recognized and the story goes around earing him the nickname of Sam the Whore.

He carried that nickname and people relished telling the story of how he got all his life. He passed away in his late 80’s after carrying that label for over 60 plus years. There’s a moral here. Well actually a few-always pay your debts, never get

caught doing something so foolish as it will be remembered, your reputation is something precious and when lost can be next to impossible to get back

Don’t be a Sam the whore

Nicknames can have a powerful effect on how people see us and in today’s world nicknames are becoming popular. Many we try to give ourselves or to others on social media. Just remember, nicknames are like a Sam story about you and how you relate to other people.
